The exhibition (Para)Matters of Perception takes artistic practices as individual systems of traces that create a single path: a unique conceptual tendency. Each element in its individuality represents the toponim crucial for mapping the identity of the collective prospect. The manifold constructed by seven different artistic prospects (organized as: fourfold + threefold) marks the transformation of non-intentional traces or minimally intentional traces into indexes by stabilizing the formations of indexical entities through the process of their constant actualization.
Constant process of stabilization is transformed into indexical entities only if it is based on a framework or ramification that is focused on conceptualization of consciousness. Here, consciousness is viewed as a state of matter, or perceptronium as it is marked on some recent investigation about phenomenon of consciousness. Consciousness as a state of matter then becomes a material surrounding which produces a trace based on a perception created out of a network of random associations in the endlessly simultaneous field. A trace becomes an indicator of social architectonics of the brain which perpetually simulates an idea.
Art Space U10 was founded and opened its doors in May 2012. Up until now, sixty solo shows and group exhibitions were organised at the space. The program also includes public talks, debates, exhibition guidings by the featured artists or curators as well as interactive programs for the public. Although U10 was first created as a short-term platform that intended to present the works of its founders and artists from their immediate surroundings, due to the success and far-reaching influence it started making in Belgrade’s art scene and the region, the space continued delivering a lively program dedicated to young local artists, while each of the artists continued to maintain their own professional careers.
The Artists Association "FUNNEL" is a platform which connects visual artists from South and South-Eastern Europe. The common aim of its actors is to create a micro-artistic-space with a tendency of growing, to evaluate all tendencies that regard contemporary art, to articulate them and to gather them in one artistic group with common activities.
The principal motif for creating this platform is an awareness that by connecting the artists we will actually increase their potential, quality and conciousness. The necessity for common actions is a resault of consideration that only a group of people has enough energy to promote ideas of contemporary art. Even the different poetics within the group could inevitably strengthen each other.
Exchanging experiences and ideas, realization of common exhibitions, workshops, lectures about contemporary art, etc. are only a part of a project of this platform. Generally speaking, on one hand it’s all about raising consciousness that regards contemporary art in the environment where this art has been applied. On the other hand, it’s about a very pragmatic effect of involving that kind of art in the real life of environment. That is, actually, an engaged approach of artists within a society where they perform.
The platform represents a synthesis of artistic and social acts in order to consolidate and reaffirm contemporary art. Different forms of activities are just different mechanisms of the acts. Those mechanisms are always new, creative and socially responsible and their ultimate goal is to consolidate contemporary visual arts into social environment where they have been created.
The group of artists gathered around the platform is followed by all categories of activists, first of all by young curators, that have an opportunity to realize their own authorship in the immediate contact with a practical work in a sector of contemporary art, becoming a crucial component of this idea within a context of art theory – the experience that, nowadays, is considered to have an equal authorship as an immediate experience of producing the art.
The infrastructure of this group is connected to exhibition spaces and art ateliers in Belgrade and Bucharest. Within these spaces the group is organizing exhibitions, residential exchanges and international collaboration. At the same time, one of it’s tasks is also a promotion through contemporary channels of communication in order to carry out all designed goals of the platform.
The Artists Association "FUNNEL" is an open artistic group with a tendency of gathering the quality within the contemporary art in order to act together
